HighWire

HighWire is a series of educational magazines designed specifically for struggling middle school readers. It has engaging stories and articles with edgy, attention-grabbing design.

Nelson Education contracted us to produce 36 magazines with accompanying teachers’ guides that include lesson plans and blackline masters. The series is for students in grades 6–8. The magazines needed to motivate students to read and support them as they learn and develop reading skills and strategies.

In collaboration with Nelson Education, we developed a theme for each issue that would provide opportunities for strong, dynamic visuals and cross-curricular links. The themes cover contemporary and historical settings, and include virtual worlds, forensic science, extreme sports, and many others.

The development of HighWire magazine enabled us to gain significant credentials as a contract publisher in the United States – and culminated in the launch of a fresh, innovative product.
